HABITS!: When I was younger I use to think habits was basically a negative term. I just kind of always heard well you know they have a “Bad Habit”. Somebody would talk about something they had did habitually or continually, that’s what habit means (to do continually), that really hurt them or hurt other people or had a negative connotation. I’ve also found that the word habit can be a very positive word, and if you have good habits here’s what happens; if you have GOOD habits and do those daily, they will serve you well and lift you up. If you have bad habits and you do them daily they will enslave you and they will hurt you. It’s interesting, the word habits! They can be an asset or they can be a liability, they can be the anchor that holds you down or they can be the wind beneath your wings that allows you to fly and sail! So, do me a favor and look into your own habits, just draw a line down the middle of a pad of paper, have one side that’s good and one side that’s bad and just ask yourself, what are my bad habits, what are my good habits? Hopefully the good outweighs the bad, but regardless of that, here’s what I know; you can change your habits. It has to be a choice and it takes time, but with intentionality and patience the bad habits can leave the left hand column after a while and can be turned into good habits in the right hand column. Ive taken this information and bit of wisdom and applied it to my everyday life. Ive asked myself what are my good and bad habits about my work ethic, my relationship with my family, my relationship with my kids and their dad! It actually applies everywhere, every aspect of your life. When you take that good information, and you apply it to all corners of your universe, your life will start to transform. People may say to you that you are just like your mother or just like your father and that is probably very well true because these are the people whom most probably raised you. Your behavior is learned behavior so their habits are learned by you. The best thing I can say about that is take a good, long, hard, look at your situation. Take all of the good qualities about your parents,...and hold onto them tight. THEN, take all of the things you think are bad habits from your parents and wrap them up, and throw them out!! Take the good and throw out the bad!! ....And may your right hand column be filled as you are emptying your left hand column.
