HANOI PITCHING FILM WORKSHOP Getting the interesting idea appealing to audience is always the challenge for filmmakers. Moreover, making the idea attractive to investment from producers and donors is deeply a thorny problem which not only local filmmakers face in Vietnam but also international filmmakers are interested in. Pitching: is the indispensable skill that filmmakers deliver a film’s message with attractive images and brief words. In addition, those pitching must show donors a successful future of the film. Students will have chance to practice these above skills with experienced producer – MD Paul Welsh. Producer/MD PAUL WELSH Founder of DigiCult (2001) Award Michael Powell, category Best New British Feature at EIFF with his debut feature SKELETONS (2010). In 2011, the film was BAFTA and BIFA nominated for Outstanding Debut Feature & Outstanding Achievement in Production respectively. In 2012, his second feature LORE premiered and sold internationally, winning numerous prizes: - Australian Academy Awards – Best Film - German Academy Awards – Bronze - Stockholm IFF & The Hamptons – Best Film - Piazza Grande Audience Award (Locarno) Moreover, Lore was Australia’s nominee for Foreign Language Oscar in 2013. Time: September 26th and 27th, 2014 Venue: Center for Assistance and Development of Movie Talents Organizers: British Council and Red Bridge TV & Film Production Participants (students): Independent filmmakers in Hanoi having specific script in the stage of raising fund to produce (feature and short film). Priority is given to young filmmakers winning award or attending international film festival have priority. Benefits for the best script: Redbridge TV and Film production will support in terms of equipment during production stage of the film. (Detailed information will be provided latter). Content: - On 26th: workshop with speaker Paul Welsh teaching film pitching skills. In addition, producer Ha Thuc Van and Director Nguyen Hoang Diep also participate sharing experiences in raising fund to produce film project. - On 27th: 10 students with their excellent scripts will be selected to attend a “Private coaching” in which they have opportunity to pitch their film project with direct guidance of Director Paul Welsh.
