HIGH MOMENTS! When a wood is touched, carried, or even thrown against a wall, does it feel anything? NO, because it is a non-living thing! But when a matured man and woman who deeply love each other, stay together, or even talk together; most times, they feel the butterflies singing in the tummy; AM I CORRECT? Someone asked: As a child of God, Is this type of emotional feeling towards my fiance/fiancee (one am in godly courtship with) not wrong? Then I said: As long as flesh and blood still flows in your veins, high moments cannot be ruled out in courtship! The issue now isnt about the pure feeling of love you have; but what you do with those feelings is what matters! Do you let those feelings dominate you and translate into sinful immoral thoughts/actions? How do you immediately switch off, knowing you are just in courtship and bring your emotions under the control of the Holy Spirit? High moments exists in courtships!!! Theres always an excitement/joy that comes with the feeling of beginning a journey with someone you love, care and respect deeply; but controlling those feelings, as to prevent it from degenerating into sin could be the hard part! The HOLY SPIRIT IS NEEDED HERE! Both partners in courtship, may not have the same level of emotional strength; but ones strength is to cover up for the others weakness! It is expedient to study your partner! Know when to draw the lines in your conversation! When his/her voice is already going low and you can sense uncontrolled emotions in his/her voice, wisdom demands you immediately crack a joke to bring him/her out of such state or bring the discussion to a close. Let your conversations be pure! Matthew 12:36,37: But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned. High moments in courtship can also be controlled by involving in spiritual activities together! Never make your relationship an idol as to make you forget/reduce your level of commitment/consecration to God; instead, it should make you better! It is important to love God above your partner; It is in loving God passionately in words and actions, that He helps and empowers you with wisdom and the divine love you need to cherish, and respect your partner as He commands! Both partners should have a desire to grow daily in Christ! The place of daily study/meditation on Gods Word should not be ruled out in courtship! When the heart is renewed by Gods Word; it helps fight every ungodly thought and gives power to overcome temptations! Have a Bible reading plan and stick to it together! Let the word of God always be your mandate, your guide and final authority! Also read godly christian literatures and share the lessons learnt! Never relegate the place of prayer to the background; thats the weapon youve got to move this relationship to Gods desired glorious destination. Set a day (or days) to pray and fast together! This even strengthens the love! Discover and break those negative trends in place of prayer! Moreso, develop other areas of your life. Work on your career/business, ministry, etc! Set targets for yourselves; have a weekly/monthly saving plan. Work on your character! Sisters, get closer to God, pray to develop those godly virtues needed to be the help-meet and virtuous woman God commands! Brothers, pray to love your woman unconditionally as Christ loved the church; and remain faithful to her! My beloved brothers/sisters, let God be at the centre of your relationship! We are to be imitators of Christ in our dealings with our partner! You have no excuse to sin! 1Corinthians 6:9a: Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God?. Always remember that you are not married until you are married; and you are not entitled to the bonds of marriage yet! Avoid staying in secluded/dark places with your partner, mind your visits, set your boundaries; never give room for the devil! God is watching and He will judge everyone according to the deeds done both in secret and open! It is better not to sow wrong seeds/thorns of sin on that foundation, it will choke and pierce you! Never open your doorway to the devil by breaking the edge (allowing sin), and hindering Gods presence! If Gods presence leaves, of course, the devil comes in! Your union cannot be empty; its either the devil is on the throne or God; the choice is yours to make! Dont give room for the devil to soil your testimony! Lets always remember that our union with that God-ordained man/woman, is not just about them alone; but about God and how that union can serve the world and minister to others. Let your courtship/marriage be a godly example worthy of emulation by making Christ your foundation always and diligently play your roles!!! Funmibi Cares but GOD CARES MORE!
