Ha muerto el Gabo. I learned to appreciate his brilliant work through the eyes of my literature high school teacher in Margarita Island, Prof. Alberto Heredia. I read many pieces of his literary work; of course, being the first one One hundred years of solitude. One of my favorite books, “The General in His Labyrinth,” published in 1989, combined imagination with historical fact to conjure up the last days of Simón Bolívar, the father of South America’s independence from Spain. His well known left-wing, communist affiliation, supported to finance Hugo Chavez first political campaign.
