Had a really nice nursing student today. She was super keen & really smart. It was a bit nostalgic actually. Ive been scrubbing for almost 15 years now, and I dont think Ive ever lost that wide eyed wonder at surgery. How amazing it is that everyone is built in the same way anatomically (mostly). That we can do horrific things to people and actually cure them, or improve their quality of life. I know Im only a nurse, but the skills that are essential to do my job are many & varied, & to be honest most cannot be taught. Im at the top of my game & Im very good at my job. I feel privileged to do what I do. Anyway x
