Had my first visit to the nearest VW dealership. Got the paint touch up kit and while I was there, chatted w/the service people about the window issue. They did a FULL check up of my car, test drove, etc. even washed it when they were done. NO CHARGE. The mechanic had tried resetting the windows (as I describe in a post earlier this week...you close all windows all the way down, hold for a few seconds, close and repeat this three times, which fixed the problem for four days, then the driver window was overlapping the convertible top edge again...) He tried a few other things and then he tested the sensors and windows motors and door latches. Two issues...driver side door latch has to be replaced and the passenger side window motor needs to be replaced. Expensive BUT the car is still under the extended used car warranty from the dealership where I bought it so it will be taken care of :-)
