Hadar Goldin is a 23 year old from Kfar Saba - he has allegedly been captured by Hamas or another Palestinian faction. He is now a Prisoner of War and with that, according to the 3rd Geneva Convention, he has a number of rights which must be upheld. 1. He must be treated humanely with respect for his person. 2. The next of kin and the ICRC must be informed of the capture. 3. POWs must be given permitted to communicate regularly with relatives and receive packages from them. 4. He must be given adequate food, clothing, housing, and medical attention. 5. He must not be subjected to torture, be held in conditions that are designed to cause harm, injury or death and he must also not be compelled to give any information except for name, age, rank, and service number. 6. It is expected as a fundamental practice that the ICRC be given access to POWs to ascertain their well-being, assess their treatment and report back to the international community and monitoring bodies.
