Halloween should have its importance expanded. While Christmas and Thanksgiving are usually family celebrations, Halloween is unique in that its most popular modern tradition, Trick or Treating, involves sharing with complete strangers in your community. Even if its candy, or erasers, or apples with razorblades (just kidding) it is a message that I think is very valuable: Your family isnt the only group to whom you are responsible. We are part of a global community. I gotta say, though, isnt it interesting that almost every western holiday or other celebration involves giving to others? Christmas, Halloween, Valentines Day... Thanksgiving involves a potluck quite often, with family all bringing different dishes to share, Easter involves setting up an activity for kids quite often, and New Years and St. Pattys usually involve the sharing of drunkenness (lol). Just about any time we celebrate, we include some So this Halloween, lets make it a tradition to give just a little more than candy to kids. I wonder if you can bulk order Little Golden Books? If so, Id like to do that to give those out alongside candy.
