Hamburg sign Cameroon international Hamburger SV have completed the signing of their first player this summer with the acquisition of Jacques Zoua from Swiss Super League side FC Basel. The Cameroon international striker completed the move on Monday after passing his medical, signing a three-year contract in north Germany. Jacques Zoua was interviewed by the Old Dinosaur online, saying: “HSV is a great club and the Bundesliga is a big deal for me. Thorsten Fink was also a reason why I decided to sign for HSV.” The striker signed for the FC Basel in 2009 and spent two years under current Hamburg head coach Thorsten Fink Sporting director Oliver Kreuzer commented on the club’s first signing since he took over from Frank Arnesen “He is still young, but has already gained a lot of experience in the Super League and may continue to evolve.” Jacques Zoua made a total of 86 league appearances for the Swiss champions, scoring 14 goals. He has also appeared in 7 Champions League matches (0 goals), 9 Champions League qualifying matches (3 goals) and 12 Europa League matches (0 goals). Zoua has represented the Cameroon national team on 3 occasions. Earlier this month, HSV sold striker Heung-min Son to Bundesliga rivals Bayer 04 Leverkusen.
