Happy Birthday tomorrow one of the worlds greatest and least appreciated modern reformers -- His Majesty, Muhammad Reza Pahlavi II, Shah-an-Shah (10/26/1919-7/27/1980)! He remains the most enlightened leader in the long, storied history of Iran whose people were blessed with His Royal Highness beneficent rule from 1953 to 1979. In 1953 the shah inherited a dirt-poor, illiterate country largely mired in the 7th century A.D., and His Majesty transformed it into the most free, modern, and prosperous Muslim nation on Earth. May His Majestys son, His Royal Highness, Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi, one day soon assume His rightful place reigning atop the Peacock Throne. God bless the Iranian people.
