Has anyone in this group ever considered having a real neighborhood watch. I was part of one years ago and it was real effective. Basically you let the police department know that you are organizing a neighborhood watch. We invited them to our meetings. Our problem was at night only. We paired up and took 4 hour shifts. We walked, biked, and ride in a car and just looked for anything suspicious. When needed we called the police and they came out and questioned the person/people. It did not take long until the criminals new that we were banded together watching them and our property every night. It was highly effective. After a couple of months the crime was almost none existent. It helps to get the police department involved. The most important thing the PD stressed was accurate reporting to them. An example is a loud boom. The boom needs to be reported as that, not a gun shot. If you tell them it was a gunshot and it was from a rifle then they are looking for someone carrying something long and noticeable item. Unfortunately if it was from a pistol they may have saw the person but did not investigate further because they are looking for someone with a rifle. I can go on and on but I will spare you. ACCURACY IN REPORTING IS THE KEY. Report the facts and then you can saw in my opinion it was this. Trust me when you get to my opinion they will that you for the report.
