Have read some comments on YouTube about this album - it seems some are very disappointed. I think they miss the point. For me, this album is a poignant representation of the melancholy soul of Pink Floyd and a final farewell featuring the last of the chemistry between Richard Wright and David Gilmour. Mostly instrumental - it really is all about this thing they do and Louder Than Words is the message. The ideas for the songs on the album would likely have become through varying times and places and you can hear or guess where they may have arrived along the way while perhaps begetting some of the other classic Floyd moments in time. It strikes me as a beautiful and rare thing that a band with such passion, power and grace would even think of giving their audience their final musical breath this way; to honour the last of the best of themselves as well as the many of us who have loved them and felt connected to them since inception. I think #TheEndlessRiver is a beautiful way to lay down a gentle (and a little sad) farewell and to leave it in our hands. The message I hear is that you cant stop the flow of the endless river, nor the life forces who ride it. Poetic. Respectful. Beautiful. Because Gilmour.
