Hear me now, peeps! We live in a Representative Republic, not a Democracy. There is an important distinction. The people we elect to serve in the House, Senate and Presidency are NOT our leaders. They ARE our servants, OUR representatives. It is us, not them, who are in charge. Can we PLEASE start being in charge, instead of complaining that there is nothing WE can do about it. Our country will be better in the future if WE THE PEOPLE fulfill our duties and responsibility as citizens. WE are the check and balance against the government.
