Hellenic and Hellenistic. Hellenism refers to the Hellenistic, as distinct from the Hellenic, period. Hellenism and the Hellenistic Age begin with Alexander the Great and is not inclusive of Hellenic Greece. Hellenic Greece is Ancient Greece in the eighth through fourth centuries BC, between the Greek Dark Ages and the Hellenistic period, is referred to as Hellenic Greece. It is made up of two epochs: Archaic Greece (c.750–c.500) Classical Greece (c.500–c.300) The term Hellenic is specific to the period and is not inclusive of the later age of Hellenism. Hellenism is founded in Hellenicism and branches from it, developing into diverse paths and mysteries. Culminating in a pluralistic and universal tradition.
