Hello Mr. Love...My name is John Kane ...I am a visual artist and two year doctoral student at Franklin Pierce University in NH. It is with great pleasure, that I am reaching out to the many colleagues and friends of renowned sound engineer Mr. Bill and Terry Hanley of Hanley Sound. Two years ago (with the Hanleys consent) I decided to embark on what would be the beginnings of my dissertation topic on Bill’s life and career. The project which is aptly titled “The Last Seat in the House” will take shape as an oral history documentary style film, as well as in print form. I am truly excited to help tell the story of Hanley Sound along with the many achievements they have made over their long and historical careers. What is equally important to me is that people see what sort of deficit the music/sound industry could have suffered without Hanley Sounds contributions. Bill and I would like to kindly ask you for your involvement with this project. Your brief reflections on the the early music scene and culture of the day, a musicians perspective on early sound technology etc...would be a major contribution to this film. Specifically, reflections on your tour with Hanley Sound in 1966. At your convenience could I arrange a mutually convenient time with you for short interview? I am on the east coast and would be able to meet you before or after your Boston show in June 2013... I live only a short distance from there in Salem, MA. This project is a not for profit venture.
