Hello! Sorry I have not posted anything for so long to my Facebook group for Political Metaphors. It has been a crazy, busy year. Today, however, I have the pleasure of relating a few milestones for my blog. For one, this past week I sent off my 100th post! My, how time flies! It is hard to believe, but I have been doing this for 22 months now. Except for a few exceptions due to illness or work overloads, I have put out one post per week for more than a year and a half. According to the stats on my blog software, I have also just reached a total of 50,000 views of my blog. Pretty amazing! I am not sure if that is 50,000 different people reading the blog one time each, or 500 people reading it 100 times each, most likely the latter. Also, when I first started the blog, I thought I would be lucky to have 100 views per day. Now, I normally get about 250 views per day. My record of 365 views in one day was matched a few weeks ago (I am not even sure why!). Once in a while I will get a note from a high school teacher or college professor thanking me for the blog and saying that they are beginning to use it with their students in English, rhetoric or communications. I also get notes from people all over the world who have seen the blog via Facebook, LinkedIn or Twitter. The blog statistical software also tells me that the most popular post continues to be my analysis of Martin Luther King, Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech. It seems that students all over the country are studying Martin Luther King, Jr. with my blog posts. I couldn’t be more proud to be helping students understand the contributions of one of our greatest American heroes. It is also clear that the majority of my readers are students since my viewership definitely drops off during the summer months, and picks up quickly right around Labor Day when the students go back to school. This is nice too. Originally I thought my readers would be graduate students and a few folks who are just interested in word play. Now it seems the blog has proven to be very useful to thousands of high school and college students. Pretty cool! The only bad news is that I still have not found a publisher for the book. With my crazy work schedule and busy home life, I have not had much time or energy to contact publishers. Getting a book published is almost a full time job. Fortunately, my work schedule is a little lighter this quarter, so I hope to find the time to get the book published soon. Wish me luck! As always, thanks for reading!
