Hello Zane. I am really in need of your advice on this matter. I grew up with a dad I didnt see much of because he was married (cheating on his wife with my mom). I am now 42 years old and about 20 years ago I was approached by a woman who claims to be my auntie, the sister of my biological dad, not the dad I grew up knowing. Now my supposed biological dad is deceased. When I asked my mom about both men she refuses to discuss it. She says you know who your dad is. Im really torn because my son looks like my dead father. Also I may have relatives that i still have time to get to know and they all say I look like them hand want me to be a part of their family. If I pursue this I will hurt the father that raised me if i dont I will die wondering if Im their relative. Please send me your honest opinion. Thanks, Confused and Scared MY RESPONSE: I would ask the aunt or someone else in that family to take a DNA test with you to make sure. Your mother may or may not be truthful about the situaton and our guts rarely lie. It seems like you believe that they are your relatives and life is a one-shot deal. Do not be scared to find out the truth. You are grown and entitled to do as you wish. Once you get a DNA test, it will end all confusion. Good luck and God bless.
