Hello to all our Komangs Journey page. Many apologies for the late update but I am happy to share my visit report with you tonight. Yes the road up the mountain is still very bad...BUT....we did see roadworks in progress so our journey is going to be reduced by 1.5 hours...and we are very happy with that! But before I report on my findings I need to share with you, if I may, not only our delight at seeing Komang but the journey before Komangs Journey. We travel a long highway through Kintamani and suddenly our trip takes us to the start of the climb (by SVU)! up the mountain road, through villages to Komang village. We are always greeted by the locals taking up your donations as they know us now as friends and it is refreshing to get waves of hello on our way up.....this, although not important, is a feeling of love from the villagers because they know what our trip is all about and they welcome us in their own beautiful Balinese way. We finally get to our destination Komang to be greeted by Wayan, he is Komang father...supplies sticks for us oldies to help guide us down the steep mountain to the house......yes, some of us slip and giggle but it is all part of the dayss venture.! As we approach the house area we are greeted by Komangs shrill of our names as we plunder down...he is waiting for us and as excited as can be. I was in total awe of what greeted me when we finally arrived...his dad had created a huge playing area for Komang and built high walls so Komang wouldnt fall into the bush. The kitchen area has been completely removed and relocated giving more space for Komang. Rabbits and chickens adorn the area....which, and what I never knew before, is surrounded by Advocado, Mangoe trees, a Ginger area (to die for)... Komang...... Since my last visit I have seen improvement in many forms.....his eyes are better...his teeth are forming better...his skin is improving but slower than I had hoped but a few hints to his mum and all will be fine. He can stand on his feet and walk without the aid of his special boots but he still will have to wear them for a long time. He delighted us by taking us to see his friends....rabbits!....he loves them and this is good for him being able to understand about the care of animals and why people have them and to love them. Komang mother and father...from what I saw, are even more devoted to him, he is the apple of their eye. One of the important things I noticed was he recognizes that he has come a long way due to the kindness of so many kind people....in fact every time I go there his mother will acknowledge what you, the people of Australia, and indeed the world has done for him in becoming the beautiful young man he is. He will soon be going to school and he is looking forward to this new venture....our man in Bathurst, Andy kindly donated 3.5 million Rupiah to start him on his way to a better life via schoolling but we need to have him get his eyes checked out before that can happen so we need to contact the John Fawcett Foundation before we can proceed but details will follow regarding this. So many thankyous are necessary in this cause, especially now that all of us,admin, sponsors, donors, helpers, our driver Putu, has witnessed something that would normally never be seen and I think you will all agree from the first photo of Komang to the present day photo how proud you should all be for giving this wonder boy to be the boy he is now... We at admin are so grateful that you have all come on board to be help Komang to be the boy he is today.
