Herald of His Coming! I am so excited to welcome you once again to another edition of the herald of His Coming. May His grace and peace be multiplied unto you in Jesus name. It is worth the while to remind ourselves again that though heaven and earth may pass away not a jot or title of the word of God shall go unfulfilled. The bible says in 2 Peter 3:10 that “But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with a fervent heat; both the earth and the works in it will be burned up”. (KJV). The above scripture was my experience over the night in which I saw the immediate atmosphere over our planet melting away like wax before fire. Beloved, Jesus is coming very soon! Therefore as we continue to remind ourselves of the certain second advent of the Lord Jesus Christ, I like for us to consider another reason for Saul’s impatience. Let us back up a little bit to 1 Samuel 13:1-2 “Saul reigned one year; and when he reigned two years over Israel…And Jonathan attacked the garrison of the philistines that was in Geba, and the Philistines heard of it…” Saul was barely two years old as king when this incident occurred. Furthermore, if you know his story very, he never had any personal relationship with God before he was anointed king over Israel. This therefore will lead us to the next reason for impatience in his life: · Untested but Trusted: This, for me, is the very foundation of Saul’s ruin. He had no clue as to who the God of Israel was. Severally while conversing with Samuel, he referred to God as “the Lord your God” and NOT “the Lord my God”. For instance hear him in 1 Samuel 15:15 ”And Saul said, They have brought them from the Amalekites ; for the people spared the best of the sheep and oxen, to sacrifice to the Lord your God; and the rest we have utterly destroyed.” Saul had no personal knowledge of God. You can now understand why he found it difficult to wait for, and on God. It is actually very difficult to trust that a man who you do not know very well will keep his promise to you especially, in the face of intimidating pressure like the one Saul confronted in our story. Can this be the same reason why there is so much impatience with God in almost all of us in the kingdom - from the pulpit to the pews! Perhaps this is the very reason an average believer has an alternative to God in virtually all areas of life? How many us can patiently wait for God to meet our needs these days? How many us will not quickly jump on the cheap alternative solution from the pit of hell? Because of the lack of the requisite knowledge of God, it appears the devil has a price for the average believer. Or how can we explain the number of causalities in the kingdom both of men and women called by name of the Lord! Pressure from the pit is more and more intense. The adversary keeps perfecting his strategy to unseat Christians! Just imagine this scenario for a moment - the children are sent home from school because the fees have not been paid and, at the same time, house rent is due while there is an urgent demand from the parents-in -law! What do you do with the voucher in the office the next day especially when you are the cashier and the accountant! Beloved, pressure from hell will not reduce in these last days; it will rather increase. The only solution to keep us on our feet is the practical and personal knowledge of God in an ever increasing dimension. Furthermore, what would you expect a man without adequate knowledge of God to do when it appears God is silent concerning his situation? How can he possibly handle divine silence under terrible temptation? Is this not the reason why born again, tongue talking children of God patronize fake prophets during the week and yet come to church on Sunday mornings to lift up “holy hands”? I am not making light the pressure of life sometimes but, I am saying, the only way to stay rapturable by not denying the Lord is to know who we believe. Job said “For I know my Redeemer liveth, and he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth”. (Job 19:25 KJV). This statement did not come from Job while on the dining table enjoying his best meal! Rather, it came at a point in his life when he needed to choose between life and death! What helped him? Knowledge of God! It was the same knowledge of God that kept Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego standing in the midst of the fiery furnace of persecution. Daniel 3:16-28. If we must stand through to the end, we must arm ourselves with the knowledge of God. There is an answer to every question of life in the bible. We cannot afford to be lazy at all. The battle is fierce and the enemy knows his time is short. Saul could not do exploits because he did not know his God. He was trusted with responsibility but was never tested. He failed! May you not fail in Jesus name. Trust God to see you again in the next edition – if Jesus tarry in His coming. Until then, thank you for your time and may His grace abound more and more towards you in Jesus name. Maranatha! Your Companion in the race – Ezekiel Oni.
