Here is (I think) an interesting observation: since I started shadow-boxing with free weights -- that means taking pairs of 1 lb, 2 lb, 3 lb, 4, 5, 6, and 7 lb dumb bells and doing the same motions I would do if I was actually boxing or working on the heavy bag, alternating the weights and increasing (or decreasing) the speed (due to a heavier or lighter hand-held weight) I have seen the fastest and most significant growth in muscle mass of any other activity in my entire life and I have been pretty religious at doing this for 35 years -- and I am also 58 years old !!! why? I am clueless perhaps our resident fitness guru Beth Harris or someone else, like maybe Theresa Byrne, another resident fitness guru may be able to explain this . . . but, no joke, dont know how or why but this action works
