Here is Yesterdays Sermon Highlights Theme: Time of Prolonged Waiting is Over Text : John 5: 1-9 The title is presented for a particular context, it is not meant to be used for universal interpretation, yet it applies to contexts of life on earth. These people were waiting for healing, others for a short time, others for years. At the pool, they had to wait for the Angel to come and stir up water. When the water was stirred, the first to get in was healed. That gave room for queuing, competition, fighting for blessing, prolonged waiting, stress, depression, giving up etc. The man mentioned in this context suffered for 38 years. He remained there incapacitated, helpless, deserted by relatives, unable to fight for his blessing, unable to compete. He was almost dead. I may speculate that he went through several stages of death until last stage of Acceptance In a nutshell here are the stages of death am referring: 1. Denial: It cant be me, there must be a mistake somewhere. 2. Anger: Directed to God, why did He allow me to go through anguish. Angry to other people as well. 3. Bargain: God if you heal me, i will help spread your word, or I will commit myself more 4. Depression : Resorting to blue mood, being wholesomely moody, reserved and disconnected to all 5. Acceptance: Gladly welcome death, to the extent of talking about it freely. While the man was in the state of acceptance, Jesus comes into the scene. 1. When He comes in, He nullifies the only possible option in the sight of men and introduces another of option beyond our comprehension. The man had one option, the Angel stirs up water and someone comes and throws him into the water. When Jesus came, that method was nullified. 2. When He comes in, all the prolonged waiting is declared over. Though he had waited for a long period, but when Jesus came, there was no need for waiting anymore. You might have waited for a long time, but when Jesus shows up you will not need to wait any longer. Game over. No longer will you compete, no longer will you queue, no longer fighting for blessing, no more stress etc 3. When He comes in, you relocate. He told the man to take the mat and go. When He comes in, you are promoted instantly, you shift from the receiving end to the giving end, you shift from a failure to a success, from victim to victor, from a mess to a message, from a trial to a triumph, from a test to a testimony
