The Oregon Beach Monitoring Program that I coordinate gets grant money from the EPA to monitor for bacteria from people and animal sources that may be impacting the beach, and therefore public health. This program does not sample for radiation in marine debris or in driftwood on the beach. As I mentioned, last summer our Radiation Protection Services (RPS) section asked DEQ to monitor sand at locations where beach bacteria sampling was taking place. All of the results were
