Here is another Thomas Oboe Lee piece -- Salem, NY, is the town that my hamlet of Shushan is in. He probably filmed this while staying with Lila Brown of Music from Salem. Music from Salem is a group of musicians who have been making extraordinary music here for the last 28 years. When they arent here they are performing and teaching all over the world. It is really amazing to follow such an innovative music group for 28 years and have most of the other people in the audience, also be people who have seen nearly every concert for 28 years. It has made it possible for them to take up on deeper and deeper adventures in music. They play a fair amount of contemporary music and they also commission a lot of pieces. Hearing live music like this is a privilege. To intimately be able to follow the artistic development of several extraordinary and ambitious classical musicians is a gift beyond comprehending. We listen to this music in an 1850s Opera House (Susan B. Anthony spoke there), that has fabulous acoustics. But it is also a great audience of people who care and know about music. And these concerts do what -- the combination of a great concert, extraordinary musicians, great acoustics, and an audience that gets what the players are doing,-- ought to do -- they change your life. vimeo/103385923
