Diani, you named all you children in this obituary and think all this is cute and funny but you put it out there and know for all the family that want be about to attend this special day for whatever the reason is, this is just part of the foolish mess to why the family cant every come together. YOUNG, Mrs. Gertrude- Age 85, passed away Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at Heritage Manor. Family and friends will gather in the Comfort Chapel of Swanson Funeral Home 2210 M.L. King Ave. Flint, MI 48503 on Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at 11AM, with service commencing promptly at 12NOON. Evangelist Dorothy Young, officiating. Interment Great Lakes National Cemetery. Mrs. Gertrude Cassie Young was born May 10, 1928 in Money, Mississippi. She was the daughter of Robert Lee Palmer and Sally Palmer Pearl. Mrs. Young had a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing and retired from Whitmore Lake Nursing in Whitmore Lake, MI. Gertrude loved to help others, go to the casino and make the family laugh, with her life stories. She leaves to cherish her memory: 3 daughters, Diani Young, Maggie Young both of Flint, MI and Ossie Martin of Mississippi; 24 grandchildren including special grandchildren: Shyonda, Erica, Shuntieria, Eric, Derrick, TreVeonte, Lynette, Maurice, Khadijah all of Flint, MI, Ina Young of Illinois and Cassandra Taylor of Mississippi; 51 great-grandchildren including special great-grandchildren: Damarieon, Asyla, Justin, Jamier, and Kristina all of Flint, MI; special daughters-in-law, Dorothy Young of Illinois and Voncile Young of Mississippi; 2 nieces, Pastor Clara Darby of Oklahoma and Georgia Overstreet of Flint, MI; A number of great-great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild that made her 6th generation last year. A host of other relatives and friends including special friends: Amanda, Ms. Mary, and Ms.Anita all of Flint, MI. She was preceded in death by; husband, Robert Lee Young; father of children, Emerson McBee; sons, Clarence Young, Andre Young, Sr. and Tommie Young; daughters, Betty Pharms and Joyce Moore; and grandson, Andre Young, Jr. The family would like to express special thanks to; McLaren Hospice, Heritage Manor, Nurse Deanna (first shift), Samantha Allen, roommate Ms. Jennie Horn and everyone who helped make her comfortable.
