Heres the problem with being a person who loves to make up spooky stories: I wake up at four a.m. and think What if, when I turn on the light, I find something written on the blank page of the notebook I left beside my bed? Would it be help me? How about Im in the house? In seconds, I can imagine the entire scene: Im telling the police officer that no one else in the house could have written it. Shanika is the only other person in the house. Shes still asleep and she cant write. The officer is accusing me of wasting his time. After all, the house was locked and the police search turned up nothing. I must have written it myself. Maybe I wrote it in my sleep. But I know that the spidery, spindly handwriting isnt mine... And the police are leaving again. Soon Ill be alone...It takes me literally twenty seconds to freak myself out completely. Just in the space between waking up and turning on the light.
