Heres where Im at: Last night I did a gig in front of 1000 folks, in which I sat on stage, 5 metres away from James Morrison, as got completely schooled on how a trumpet should be played (and a trombone, Flumpet, Superbone and Soprano Sax, for that matter!); watched in awe as mates such as Adrian Close as Gerard Assi tore out killer solos in front of said guest artist (who looked impressed), and then experienced another mate Andrew Houston trade 12s, 4s and 2s with Morrison, and even out-squealed him!! (Octave-key, cheater! :P). And I also got to play the 1812 Overture for the first time; Today, I am playing in a massively talented orchestra fr The Music Man at OSMaD, under the expert baton of Ben Hudson, sitting in an equaly fun and talented 6pce brass section; tonight I have a rehearsal for the show Im directing and MD-ing, with an hilariously talented, funny and hard-working cast, and amazing producers and crew (opens in November GPAC.au - check it out!!); I feel like Im in form and actually playing well (for me); The rest of the year, the calendar is rather full with lots of gigs in great bands with mates; And at home, I have a baby son who learns amazing new things every day (like walking in circles, walking backwards, and putting the TV remote in the bath), a daughter who never stops cuddling me, and makes me laugh constantly, and an amazing wife who keeps it all together, keeps me all together, is also amazingly talented, and who I love and adore and makes it easier at the end of a long day when I get to see her snoring face just before I fall asleep. This is my life at the moment, and I wouldnt have it any other way. Unless I could be Batman. Then Id be Batman.
