Hey Coaches, A few days ago I posted a video on a Flex Offense Variation that I run with my teams. Today I want to share with you a video on transition offense (which I probably should have posted first). I believe the best way to score is in transition: - defense is not set - you might have a numbers advantage - you have more space to operate - you can create more uncontested shots - More fun to watch and play In regards to shooting 3’s in transition I always teach inside out 3’s. That means if the point guard kicks the ball ahead to a wing, I prefer the wing to penetrate and kick it to the weak side for a 3 instead of shooting the 3 straight away (I like the angles better on that). I have always run a structured fast break (based on LMU) with designated numbers and lanes. 2 brings the ball up, 2 right lane, 3 left lane, 4 rim runner, 5 inbound (4/5 can be interchangeable) . One thing that I did not show in the video is the receiver spots on wing penetration in transition. Basic read and react principles apply in this situation. If the wing drives baseline, the rim runner lifts and the weak side wing fills the corner. If the wing drives middle, the rim runner moves towards short corner and weak side wing fills the corner again. That way you always have good spacing for lay-ups and shots. If you cannot hit the rim runner, penetrate for a lay-up or kick it for a 3 then run some transition offense. In the video I show you some of the plays that I used to run with my teams. I still use some variation of that today. Again you can be as creative as you want. In this series our transition offense starts with an entry to the post. We used to run some elements of the Spurs Loop offense, as well as some action Argentina ran at the 2004 Olympics. If we cannot hit the post we flow into our half court offense (Flex). If you like the video, then please subscribe to my youtube channel! I would appreciate it :) youtu.be/t-1bfvJkSbw
