Hey guys! Guess what? Guess what? Guess what?!!!!! And no, it’s not at all what you’re thinking.. I’m not done with anything (This is not a “finals are over” FB post). And Guess what?!!!??! Christ isn’t done with me! He’s not done with me! he didn’t save me and check me off His list of people to be saved! He hasn’t left me to fend for myself! He hasn’t told me to figure it out on my own! He hasn’t left me alone! And Guess What??!?!?! Did you know that when you’re saved, YOU DON’T HAVE TO DO ANNNNYYYTHHING!!!! AH! There’s no “Do this and then…“ There’s no “I saved you because you did…” There’s no “You have to tell people about me in order to be saved” There’s no “You have to evangelize and memorize scripture to be saved” There’s no “You have to refrain from all of your sins” There’s no “You have to feel bad for all of your sins you’ve ever done and you will do” There’s no Have-to’s and Must-do’s and Don’ts! GOD’S GRACE HAS SUFFICIENTLY SAVED YOU FROM YOURSELF BY HIS LOVE FOR YOU WHICH WAS JESUS ON A CROSS WHO BORE YOUR PUNISHMENT SO THAT, by accepting this fact (that’s the only real thing you have to do, which isn’t much of anything. It’s like saying, “grab the rope to save yourself” but it has nothing to do with saving yourself, it’s just accepting a power that is about to save you and has basically already saved you because you know that once you grab the rope, you’re going to be yanked up from the edge of the cliff before you plummet to your death.) YOU COULD ONCE AND FOR ALL LIVE IN HIS FREEDOM FROM THE WORLD YOU LIVE IN!!! There’s nothing else to salvation! There’s nothing more essential to God’s love than that! AGHHH!!! Doesn’t this just make you wanna get up and tell people about Him stop sinning as often as you can, and obey the Lord because He loves you, not because He said so and told you to? This is the essence of all that it means to be a true believer. You accept Jesus’ love for you. That’s it. Everything else NEED not be mentioned, but we talk about it in church way too often, which gets us confused with duty vs. response. When something this magnificent happens to you, you just can’t help but respond! That’s the essence of all the other “DOING” there is in true Christianity.. all it’s ever been is a response to God’s love for you. Anything else has been a flat out lie, and any message preached from the podium of the church that does not include this message should be silenced and cast away, for the one true thing believers were called to proclaim is the GOSPEL, or the GOOD NEWS. Any message of duty is not good news, it’s old news, it’s old law, it’s old way, and it’s been cut from the essence of following Christ for good. But any message of God’s love, what Christ has done, and the offering that it is to you, is worthy of the calling of the Lord. Church, stop with the bad sermons. Start preaching Jesus. And sorry for the grammatical errors, I’m too excited.
