Hi Again…. The Penny is Back! Work Over. 2 cases turned out to be 3. Coincidently, the 22 year olds are new doctoral students at the same institute but didn’t know each other (both having joined just 2 weeks ago). Then a young stockbroker who has difficulty saying his name on phone. Anyways….. let me continue about yesterday. The Taxi was a decrepit Maruti Van which reacted to every undulation in the wet Road like an excited Spinster – although, Not having had any encounters with excited spinsters lately, I’ll have to take that back. I’ll just say …...Nothing! You’ve got the idea. The driver was a young Boy – probably from Bihar or UP – who coaxed the rattle of a car along with Deft Hands and plenty of Attitude. With not even a cursory glance at the just reddened signal, the chap made a Hindi-Movie Turn around the Metro Theatre and before the Minute Hand on the Dashboard Clock had finished its Third Turn, we were in front of the SNDT Campus. (How’s That for Hyperbole?!!) Inside: Narrow Corridors -Teeming with young Girls chatting away in small groups and playing their games of Furtive Glances. Friendly and Comfortable Energy all around. Staff and Students seemed to have Good Rapport. Sandwiches and Tea later, I was in a Large Hall with around 50-60 mainly young (a few Seniors) Women and Men with the Cover of One Life to Ride projected on the Screen. Prof. Pandurang Barkale’s Introduction sounded to me as if he was talking about someone else. I was Completely Unprepared and had only an inkling of what probably I might say……. In the end, after the 60 minute talk ended, they all got up and even clapped and then some of them sealed their love by purchasing copies of OLTR that I had conveniently managed to cart from Pune. So I Guess It Went Well….. Add - Lunch in the Principal’s room, A White Envelope, A Nostalgic Walk from Churchgate to CST via the Flora Fountain and a Final Dash into CST and I was in my window seat on the Kanyakumari Express which delivered on its promise to reach Pune just in time for me to Pour the First One.
