Hi All, I was clearing out my bookshelf and came across a book CORMAC – THE SEERS by DWINA MURPHY-GIBB. This is a book about the legend of Cormac mac Airt, greatest of the High Kings of Ireland and how the Druids try to protect the precious newborn and his mother Grainne from the murderous intentions of the usurper following the death of the High King. It is about Life, Death, being Mindful of our Words, Knowledge, The Quest, Looking beyond, The Awakening, The Chase, Separation, The Paths and finally coming into THE HEART. Anyway what stuck with me were the verses that introduced each chapter, there is a thread connecting – Anyway, I typed up the 27 verses – for your interpretation. ENJOY As the earth breathes, so do we. As the fire leaps, so do we. As the water flows, so do we. As the air swirls, so do we. I’ve seen you where you never were And where you never will be; And yet within that very place You can be seen by me. Let him magnify Truth, it will magnify him. Let him strengthen Truth, it will strengthen him. Let him preserve Truth, it will preserve him. Let him exalt Truth, it will exalt him. Purity of hand, bright without wounding, Purity of mouth without poisonous satire, Purity of learning without reproach, Purity of husbandship. The wait is long, his heart beats sore, Faith drags his feet in time Love leaps more when love is strong And traps of spirit unbind. Dark silence reigns across the land, Black shadows hail a storm, The rape of the Earth, ill-fate at hand, And blighted crop is born. Trees bend low and break their backs In homage to Earth’s solemn fury, The waters flow to swell the banks And burst upon the land in glory. She knows it in the stretch of her soul, In the keening of her mind, In the scent in the air, In the sway of the wind-song. And yet, within that very place, You can be seen by me; For to tell what they do not know Is the art by which I see. As the soil is turned for the seed As death moves to life As the seed turns to the soil As the wheel moves, so do we. And so the chord of Life is strum In the darkness of time, in the deeps of years, In the changes of things he shall sleep as a god And the world shall forget him for a King. To watch and wait and bide the time Until Love sips from these lips of mine Will she ever see me, guardian that I am, Guiding her slumber and my own heart to calm? He returns so that my heart leaps high Soaring up purple mountains To dive down deep green valleys And I yearn for the naked Truth of it all To dance within the sacred flame And tumble with the Wheel of Fire It is time for him to call your name And pluck Hope’s string upon the lyre. Sweet sorrow wets these eyes of mine And my lips sear with your parting kiss; My pulse beats a path to you in time To seal our love in secret tryst. As the moon waxes and wanes, so do we, As the new moon grows, so do we, Enveloped in the darkness of the womb To rise again, and grow and grow and grow. And so the search begins for the new one As hailed by the prophecy untold And countless eyes and ears are closed To conceal the way by which he goes. It is a lonely way, the seer’s path, Unmarked, untrodden, long forgotten, To will, to dare, to know, to keep the faith, To seek the signs and to be silent. He is gone, and I not prepared, He is gone, and my heart can bleed no more, I am, as a shell, with no living thing within, I am, as one demented, lost in a shadowed world. She wanders in and endless sea of forgetfulness Like a new-birthed one, pure of thought, Innocent of deed, knowing and all-knowing; She is at the heart of the see of it all. Deep in the salmon pool of forgetfulness Lie the nuts of knowledge from the Hazel tree And little by little the salmon of wisdom nibbles And little by little she remembers the sea He is mine again, all mine and no other has a claim, Who dares to say he belongs only to the land? Let them challenge and stand before me now If there is contest, it is I who will win the game. Many ways North and many ways South, Many ways East and many West; And all leading to the centre But only one to reach the heart. The Truth that stares him in the face is hidden, For he thinks it one way and yet it is another; To go against the fate of the gods is forbidden Bringing only anguish sorrow to the Mother. Black is the night sky, sleek cat hunting, White is your smile, biting, pale wet kiss; I am dreaming of your snow-soft hands, Light as the day, thieving my soul away. As the earth breathes, so do we. As the fire leaps, so do we. As the water flows, so do we. As the air swirls, so do we.
