Hi Everyone, Ill be walking again this year in the Cooleys Anemia Foundations Care Walk. We are raising money to fight Thalassemia - a blood disorder which affects hundreds of thousands worldwide. Thal patients require monthly blood transfusions because their bodies do not create healthy hemoglobin (the protein which carries oxygen to various parts of your body). Younger patients still have a chance to be cured and we are aiming to find one for them in the very near future. This requires an immense amount of funding and since Thalassemia is not a well known disease in the United States, it is usually only the friends and families, and the patients themselves doing the fundraising. The Cooleys Anemia Foundation has played a crucial role in the advancement of Thalassemia research by providing doctors all around the world with grants.
