Hi again!! It’s been a long day for our Momma but surgery - TopicsExpress

Hi again!! It’s been a long day for our Momma but surgery went so well! The lung doctor was present for part of the surgery and was part of the reason they ended up removing her trach. Our neurosurgeon Dr. Tabrizi replaced the piece of skull he removed in September using little screws and plates so her head will no longer be sunken in on the right and her brain is all sealed up and safe! :) Considering just having brain surgery, our Karebear is doing alright. She is coherent and answering yes/no questions and communicating slightly. She is in a lot of pain. She had a slight rise in blood pressure, a small drop in her blood oxygen level, and swelling in her right eye post surgery this evening. These are all normal reactions and will likely level out in the next few days. Our prime concern at the moment will be keeping her healthy and pneumonia free, as that will be vital to her healing. It is likely that she will move up to the neurology floor of Western Med tomorrow, then back to Kindred within the next week (depending on the stability of her healing). For the time being we are asking that she has no visitors. She told my Dad today that she is not ready to see anyone, and aside from that the chance of infection and need for rest are both pretty vital right now. If anyone is interested in spending time with my Dad or any of the family members while we are at home or at the hospital feel free to contact us. As I have said before, the message interface for this Facebook page is a little hard to keep up with- but you are welcome to contact any of us directly. We love you all so much and appreciate your continued care and consciousness through my Mommas recovery. Today was a HUGE STEP and we are looking forward to moving forward! Yay! Keep sending up those healing prayers and we will too.
