Hilton Cares looks back on the first two weeks of the Pilon - TopicsExpress

Hilton Cares looks back on the first two weeks of the Pilon Project and we are amazed at what all the volunteers have accomplished, both on-site and off-site. We are on track and rocking it! First, the Thursday update. I finally got a hold of the sign-in sheet. Our ever faithful Home Depot volunteer John was there; Bob Mullen practically lives at the house now, Paige Langswager delivered the hot coffee from The Hilton Pharmacy and Bimbo (say Beem-bo!) Foods provided a variety of breakfast items, courtesy of Hilton district resident Molly McCarthy. Tiffany Bermudez was our on-site manager; Karen and Victoria Velyk; Tonya and Bria Melrose; Rose and Paul Heppner; The Conolly Crew: Ben, Cheryl, Cameron, Keara, and Alana. Karen and Matthew Reynolds. The Solvensen (spelling) was also helping out. Lunch was still getting rave reviews on Friday, and was provided by John Green of Advantage Waypoint. Something about steak…. Friday August 29th Update Today’s breakfast, delivered by Katie Paxton-Johnson, was courtesy of Union Street Eatery in Barefoot Plaza, Spencerport. Our volunteers started out the day with hot food and coffee and we worked them hard. Student Will North was tasked with pulling staples and prepping for carpeting. Home Depot John and Home Depot Henry (Batavia store) worked with Nick Hardie on shoring up the foundation under the bathroom. Carl Pilon stopped in to thank the volunteers and meet the Home Dept crew. Jen and Brian McDowell painted and sanded; greeting the day with gusto. The Velyk gals were working hard, we tasked Victoria with some taping and she kept the younger crew busy. Thanks to Steve Cudzilio and sons Jonathan and Matthew were make a formidable team. I was impressed by the young boys’ determination and hard work on pulling staples, hauling boxes and making dumpster runs. They are very fascinated with the prospect of the barn coming down and were considering the tools and equipment that will be used. Nick and Beth Hardie were in. We work Nick hard with the Home Depot crew, but we do feed our volunteers well! Rose and Paul Heppner returned for some more painting, and it was wonderful to meet and talk to one of the original Quest families. Glenn and son Robert Chaffee were prepping the first floors room for painting. I was impressed by their knowledge and willingness to help, Robert is learning lots about the trade from Dad, and earning community service hours for the Boy Scouts. Jerry Pickering worked on the barn and hauling stuff and of course, Bob Mullen was on site all day, always ready for yet another task. Once again, Home Depot Greg was in to work on the windows and wall prep work.
