His mother said to the servants, “Whatever He says to you, do it. ” (John 2:5 NKJV) I believe The Lord still speaks. That doesnt mean He is adding to the Scriptures. The Canon is closed. The 66 books of the Bible are the final rule and authority. That being said, I still believe God speaks. Audibly?, you may ask. Not in the physical sense, at least not that I am aware. However, I have had such profound thoughts, deep impressions, and transformational epiphanies, that I can think of no other way to describe it besides, God spoke. It was weighed, of course, by the Scriptures. It had to harmonize with the final standard. But His voice gave me direction and leadership that was undeniable. And when I responded to that voice, often times, dare I say most of the time, I saw the miraculous, the providential, and His hand at work. I suspect there are many people God has attempted to speak to. Impressing them to walk in a certain direction, take a certain job, respond to a specific call, act in some form of faith. And how many times do we ignore Him? How many times do we ignore the nudge and say, nah? Marys counsel is still good for today. Whatever He says to you...do it. Pretty simple really... Obedience is like that. Whatever He says...just do it. Even Nike gets it. The question is, Do you? I heard His voice on a matter recently. It had been awhile since I had experienced that profound of impression. But it was unmistakable. Even for a hard head like me. I started to analyze, rationalize, and was almost immobilized... then I remembered, Whatever He says to you...do it. Doesnt take years of Koine Greek... Doesnt take a Seminary and Graduate School degree... It just takes doing it. And in that simple act... Miracles happen. Has He spoke to you? You dont need a lot of counsel. Just do it... You wont regret it.
