Historical: Motivational Programme for Sanitary Workers in Varanasi 11 June, 2013 The sanitary workers of Municipal Corporation are important part of the society. In order to instill the feelings of dedication towards their work & to create sense of self-respect & pride, Satya Foundation will be conducting *"Samvad"* (which means dialogue in English) programme in all the wards of Varanasi city. This was decided by the Municipal Commissioner Mr. R.P. Singh at his camp office on Monday evening. Earlier, one such programme was organised on experimental basis in Kotwali ward of Varanasi by Satya Foundation on Monday morning. *On the basis of the feedback of this workshop, the Municipal Commissioner decided to organize such workshops in the remaining 13 wards of the city, as well. * The main feature of this programme is that there are no sermons & no preaching. Rather, the participating sanitary workers are energized & motivated in a very light manner. *So many anecdotes & short stories are used to convince them that they are the most important pillars of the society.* Today, at the first such workshop, they were told that if the government is paying you money, you must do justice to your work, specially because any kind of apathy on your part kills the image of heritage city in the eyes of domestic & foreign tourists. And not only that, it also robs the city of invaluable foreign currency. *Cautioning them all against the could-be-epidemic (due to heaps of garbage) in the coming monsoon*, Chetan Upadhyaya said that it is the high time when the sanitary workers must show strong will power & do all-out efforts to clean the city. The sanitary workers took pledge that they will demonstrate perfect team work & leave no stone unturned in making the city cleaner ! During the programme, the sanitary workers expressed their views & opinions freely. All the participating male & female workers were also apprised of the ways to remain active & energetic by adopting simple tips related to balanced diet, sound sleep and positive thinking. Tomorrow, the *"Samvad"* programme shall be held for sanitary workers from 12 noon to 1 pm in Aadampur Ward and then from 1.15 to 2.15 pm. in Jaitpura.. The series of programme will end on 17 June 2013. (Chetan Upadhyaya) Secretary, Satya Foundation 09212735622 For further details, one may call the Municipal Commissioner on Mobile: 7800000900
