Hola John! This is Gustavo Santaolalla Great stuff. As I am getting ready for an evening of film music talk at the Academy s Bing Theatre here in Los Angeles ( alongside John Williams, Gustavo Dudamel and Tavis Smile) I went through your impressive list with which I feel very in tune with. I take this opportunity to thank you for having put me in this magnificent line up of great composers and amazing music. Never in my life would have thought that I will be in the company of such accomplished true Maestros. One thing I just would love to clear up. Babel was perfectly eligible for the Oscar. The theme Iguazú was never written for a film. It is just one track of an album that I released many years ago named Ronroco. The track was license from a record . To put an example , is like if the Rolling Stones would have written an original score for a movie , but then the director would wanted to include Satisfaction in the film also. They would have just license the track , like any other one of the source music. Obviously not the most similar example but conceptually you get the idea. All the Best. Cheers! Abrazo! Gustavo
