Holy crap, The Tedeschi-Trucks Band tore SKYPAC *up* last night! Derek Trucks is a truly talented guitarist and so is Susan Tedeschi but her vocals were amazing. Their rhythm section had two drummers and a bassist that were all excellent. The backup signers were transcendent: one had a smoky, rasp going where the other had more of a gospel style. The horn section was out of hand: all very talented; the trumpeter was full of swagger and japery and the bone player, who had kind of a Michael Jackson voice, had a Mars Blackmon look about him which was very amusing. Finally the keyboardist was a multi-talented musician equally at home with the flute, Hammond B3, and the clavinet. What impressed me most was the generosity of the band leaders: all band members, save the rhythm section, got to showcase their talent, which was considerable. Wonderful show!
