Home School Coordinator HR Contact: Sonya Weaks Southwest Elementary School Part Time (50%) - Ten (10) Months Closing Date: Tuesday, September 17, 2013 Pay Grade 65 ($2,739 to $3,682 monthly) Responsible for working with the principal, teacher, school social worker, and guidance counselor in bridging the gap between the school environment and the home environment. Work involves implementing strategies to promote relationships that will foster personal-social growth, and effective communication between the teacher, parent, and child that maximizes learning. Work with children is usually through referral from school administrators, and/or classroom teacher. Work is supervised by the principal or assistant principal and is reviewed through conferences, discussion of problem areas, and feedback from users of these services. Requires a Bachelor’s degree in one of the social sciences, and successful school-based or human service experience related to working directly with children and families; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Media Coordinator HR Contact: Sonya Weaks Petree Elementary School Full Time (100%) - Ten (10) Months Closing Date: Tuesday, September 17, 2013 Pay Grade M ($3,694 to $7,311 monthly) Provides leadership and resources for implementation of a school library/media program that services as an integral part of the instructional process. Instructs students and faculty in using and/or producing media to integrate into the curriculum and facilitate the teaching/learning process. Designs and implements short- and long-range plans which allow a balance among integrated skills instruction, literature appreciation, planning with teachers and collection management and development. Initiates interaction with students, staff, administration and the general public for purposes of integrating, promoting and expanding the media program. Also carries out assigned non-instructional duties, adheres to established laws, policies, rules and regulations and submits accurate reports promptly. Hold or be eligible to hold a valid North Carolina Teacher’s License as a School Media Coordinator. Secondary School Openings Literacy Facilitator HR Contact: Brenda Bourne Kennedy High School Full Time (100%) - Ten (10) Months Closing Date: Tuesday, September 17, 2013 Pay Grade A ($3,359 to $6,632 monthly) Serves as a member of the school faculty who works with the elected School Improvement Team to develop a Literacy Improvement Action Plan. The responsibilities of the literacy coach include literacy assessment, conducting professional development in literacy teaching strategies, modeling effective classroom instruction, and observing and providing feedback to teachers. The position entails proven excellence as a classroom teacher and exemplary skills in developing, implementing, and assessing the impact of instructional strategies to improve academic literacy, overall achievement in core content areas, problem-solving skills and use of current technology. BA degree, current NC teaching license, five years of classroom experience, recognition by colleagues and community as an outstanding classroom teacher, strong leadership and collaboration skills, strong personal literacy skills inclusive of oral and written communication, and broad understanding of core content areas. Secretarial/Clerical Openings Administrative Office Assistant II -- Accounts Payable Specialist HR Contact: Brenda Bourne Finance Department Full Time (100%) - Twelve (12) Months Closing Date: Tuesday, September 17, 2013 Pay Grade 60 ($2,170 to $2,927 monthly) Works as part of a team to process accounts payable and general expense checks, using as documentation invoices matched to purchase orders, invoices/billing statements attached to direct pay requests, contracts attached to direct pay requests, reimbursement forms attached to direct pay requests, and sales and use tax payments resulting from all of the above. In addition to the standard skill sets required of any accounts payable position in any business, WS/FCS accounts payable requires a thorough knowledge of the State chart of accounts and budget coding system to prevent payments from improper budget codes, a thorough knowledge of specialized state and local regulations and policies, many having the force of law, the ability to interpret regulations and processes for hundreds of decentralized originators of payment requests, and the ability to independently solve the wide variety of problems which are present in the Accounts Payable process. A high school diploma (or equivalent) with a minimum of three (3) years of relevant accounts payable work experience for a high-volume government (preferred) or business entity OR a two or four-year degree in business administration, accounting, economics or similar area, and at least one year of relevant accounts payable work experience, OR an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. Administrative Support Assistant II - FACE HR Contact: Brenda Bourne Forsyth Academy for Continuing Education PRN (As Needed) - Ten (10) Months Closing Date: Tuesday, September 17, 2013 Pay Grade 58 ($1,985 to $2,676 monthly) This is a grant-funded temporary position, working approximately four hours per week during evening hours. Types letters, memorandums, curriculum guides, agendas, forms, manuals, minutes, psychological or other special reports, narrative summaries, newspaper advertisements and other materials mostly from handwritten copy or already established format for professional staff in the assigned unit, division, or department; uses typewriter or computer to perform these tasks. Answers telephone and greets visitors to the office; handles some requests for information; routes persons to the appropriate office or persons; takes and receives messages for staff. Performs related clerical and administrative support duties as required and assigned.
