Honored to participate with our Canadian friends in commemorating the Battle of Chippawa, one of the bloodiest battles of the War of 1812 fought exactly 200 years ago today. 800 re-enactors from across North America and even England were on hand; theyll be back on the field tomorrow if youre looking for a little history fix. This was the battle where the gray uniforms still worn by West Point cadets made their debut; several West point grads were on hand today to mark the occasion. You can learn about what our bi-national region is doing to celebrate two hundred years of U.S.-Canada peace and friendship at discover1812, the website of the 1812 Bicentennial Legacy Council.
