Hoshiarpur July 15 Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) has invented a new method to grab money from the pockets of its consumers in the name of advance security for the consumption of power which they have yet to be used. By adopting this method PSPCL is collecting crores of rupees without enhancing rates of power from its customers. On account of this practice resentment is prevailing among the power consumers against the PSPCL for their broad day looting. Superintending Engineer of the PSPCL Jagmohan Singh told this correspondent that according to the guidelines by the authorities of the PSPCL, advance security is being assessed as per the average of last year electric bills of the consumer and is being charged as an advance money for the power which they had to consume in future. Advocate Naveen Jerath, a social activist and spokesperson of Aam Adami party, Punajb, told that he would file a public interest litigation in the court to stop this broad day looting by the PSPCL in the name of advance security. Activists of Aam Adami party alongwith electric consumers would stage demonstration and dharnas against the PSPCL to pressurise it to stop this broad day looting, he added. .................................................................
