How I Upgraded My Coconut Oil If you’re like me, you - TopicsExpress

How I Upgraded My Coconut Oil If you’re like me, you choose your fats discriminately. You might do your best to avoid overly processed, refined oils. You might go out of your way to find local butter from grass-fed cows. Because, like anything else we eat, fat must be digested, and this takes energy (not to mention enzymes and bile). If you’re going to give your body all that work to do—you might as well get something from it. Fat is not only fuel. Fat helps us use fat-soluble vitamins, and it even helps the body fight off infection. But it’s not always easy to digest fat. If you are one of those people who cannot tolerate fat, it’s important to understand that whole foods contain a spectrum of fats—fats that are long-chain, medium-chain, and short-chain. You may have heard that coconut oil is easy to digest because it contains medium-chain fats, which are absorbed rather than emulsified with bile. This is mostly true. Coconut oil contains mostly medium-chain fats. But depending on the type of coconut and where it’s grown, a significant portion of coconut oil is made up of long-chain fats. Long-chain fats take more work to digest. This is because the body needs to supply healthy amounts of bile from the gallbladder—which it cannot do if there’s an overgrowth of bacteria in the small intestine (otherwise known as SIBO). A healthy inner ecosystem is essential for the proper digestion of fat. (All roads lead to the gut, don’t they?) Just recently, I started using Bulletproof® Upgraded™ MCT Oil, and I love it. Upgraded™ MCT Oil is made from coconut and palm oil, but it contains no long-chain fats. In other words, it does not overwhelm a healing inner ecosystem. Upgraded™ MCT Oil is also antifungal, antiviral, and antibacterial. But also remember—in order to reap the antimicrobial benefits of Upgraded™ MCT Oil, we need enough of the enzyme lipase to break down the triglycerides (or fat molecules). I am so excited to announce that I will be speaking more about this at the 2014 Bulletproof Biohacking Conference during the weekend of September 26–28. (And hooray! There will be plenty of Upgraded™ MCT Oil there.) More than 35 visionaries will gather together to share ideas about how we can fine-tune our diet and lifestyle so that we reach our full potential: https://bulletproofconference/
