How did I get so lucky?! Out of all the men in the world, I got the one who was the best Daddy a girl could hope for. Floyd Martin Gabel is 90 years old today! Pretty sure thats why the Royals made the game extra thrilling last night and decided to stretch it out to 12 innings so they could win for his birthday! So proud our boys in blue kept fighting! This amazing man was born and raised as an Iowa farm boy. He served proudly in the Navy in WWII and continues to love his country. (Hes so handsome in his uniform.) He will soon celebrate 65 years of marriage with my mom and he loves her and is completely devoted to her. He taught and coached at the high school and small college level before leaving in 1965 to work for Vocational Rehabilitation. He raised 7 children with love and discipline and wanted us to always do the right thing. He loved each of us equally and passed his love of Christ, life, sports and music onto us, his 12 grandchildren and now to his 7 great grandchildren. He taught us to work hard, be respectful of others and treat them with kindness. No job was too big and hardcore manual labor was a must, no complaining. He taught us to have respect for our elders and all authority. He made us learn how to change a tire and check all fluids before we could get our drivers license. He made life fun, thats for sure. Every year our family was our own float in the Christmas parade! The 7 Gabel kids and our parents were a real team. I felt like the richest and most well loved kid in the world. Im truly blessed. Happy Birthday, Dear Daddy!
