How long before Polka Dot and Freckles, who are the current - TopicsExpress

How long before Polka Dot and Freckles, who are the current display pigs at the taxpayer purchased and funded Wagner Farm, are removed like their predecessors? Most likely soon based on how Wagner Farm has removed display pigs in the past before their Glenview Clovers 4H pigs arrive in April for several months before being sold at summer auction at the Lake County (IL) Fair for slaughter. The current display pigs at the taxpayer purchased and funded Wagner Farm have been called Polka Dot and Freckles by Wagner Farm Rescue Fund as they appear to either not have been given names, or have names basically unknown to the public though they have been heard being called Ham Bone and Bacon Bits by Wagner Farm staff. Five display pigs have gone missing just since 2013 before the 4H pigs have arrived - pigs who have been referred to by Wagner Farm Rescue Fund as Leah, Rebekah, Mercy, Honor, and Charity. While the private owner of 2011-2012 display pigs named by Wagner Farm Rescue Fund as Hope and Faith agreed to release these pigs to Wagner Farm Rescue Fund, attempts to work with other private owners have not been successful. Hope and Faith have resided and are thriving in sanctuary since their rescue. Why is the taxpayer purchased and funded Wagner Farm having animals privately owned to begin with, and allowing any of these private owners to make decisions about animals that dont ensure release of animals to humane placement? These seasonal display pigs, whether they are on loan by either private parties or another public facility, are brought in shortly after the Wagner Farm 4H pigs have been dispatched to their deaths and display pigs for public show are seemingly wanted for visitors wanting to see pigs. However, these pigs arent even always on display during open public hours as the gate to their area is found to be periodically closed and locked to the public for ongoing days. As daily care given to display pigs at this taxpayer funded facility is also apparently more often than not given by personnel also salaried by the taxpayers, there are valid questions that the public is entitled to ask and to receive prompt, accurate, and courteous answers to: Why are Wagner Farms 4H pigs (and lambs) sold to auction and ultimate slaughter, only to have even more pigs then brought in for display who are themselves removed to surmised outcomes other than sanctuary before the new seasonal 4H pigs are brought in? Why is the public viewing area of these display pigs periodically closed for ongoing days? Who owns these pigs, and who is paying for their daily care? Why is Wagner Farm now apparently systematically rejecting ongoing the collaborative efforts sought by Wagner Farm Rescue Fund for humane placement for all animals associated with the taxpayer purchased and funded Wagner Farm? *Please see the exposes of Wagner Farm by Robert Grillo / Free from Harm and national journalist James McWilliams: freefromharm.org/tag/wagner-farm/ james-mcwilliams/?s=wagner+farm&x=8&y=16 Wagner Farm and the Glenview Park District can be reached at: Glenview Park Districts online form at glenviewparks.org/index.php/contact Glenview Park District: 847-657-3215 Wagner Farm: 847-657-1506
