Hypothetical Situation: A space mission is launched to explore and colonize another planet many light-years away. In some respects the planet is very earth-like. There is plenty of water (Seas, lakes, rivers, springs, wells). There are deserts, forests, swamps, islands. Also (and this is the important part) the planet is teeming with many different kinds of life. Some creatures are more or less similar to different kinds of earth creatures. (fishy creatures, and mammalian looking creatures, and reptiles, and amphibians, and insects) But there are also very strange and unfamiliar creatures as well... things with gills and claws, walking trees, bioluminscent birds, pretty much any combination of features you can imagine exists somewhere on this planet. So here is the question: What is halal/ kosher to eat? Is anything halal / kosher? Is this like the situation of being stuck on a desert island? Are the water creatures halal? Would a walking tree be treated like a plant or an animal?
