I WANT TO BE FREE. From prescribed medications. I try to find what makes the body click so I may be able to sustain it for at least two more years, ( if not 54). Considering I have cradled malignant hypertension for at least a decade, it is no small wonder that I am still alive today. We cannot take any medical condition for granted. I vowed never to take medicine for the rest of my life before but I was wrong and had been so wrong many times before. At present, prescribed medications are doing well to keep me healthier and alive. But in fairness to my vow, broken as it was, I still am trying to find a natural way out of synthetic pharmaceutical products. I know now that the proper method of dieting helps. Do a lot of vegetables. No chocolate binges and no overeating either. I give sufficient time for my body to process all my meal intake (4 hours), before I proceed to the next meal. I do not eat fried food that much. I had an altered consciousness and a fall after I overate on chicken wings and a giant-sized hamburger. I had to visit a hospital after that. Eating right is one of your best bet to better health. In fact, the less meals you have, the healthier you would be. Eating was forced upon us since we were young and we thought it was good to eat three times a day. If you are over fifty five, you may dispense with one of the three meals and you would be just fine. If you noticed your decades old photo, you were a lot slimmer and healthier then. That was the result of failure to adjust to your proper metabolic demands which change as the years pass. We failed to adjust our food intake. It is better to eat less. Now, you carry excess baggage that you do not need for better health. I have lost 18 pounds over a year and a half and I am on my way to the ideal weight for my height. It feels great to be lighter as I can now move more easily and fit very well in medium- sized clothing. This slimness makes me feel more alive, and it helps me respond to the demands of so many situations that may be required of me. I am not as strong as I was at twenty five, but i could still rate very satisfactory in many activities certain situations would demand. I try to stay away from McDo food and with disregard for oily or oil-based entrees in the restaurants. No fast food. No TV dinner. No pre-packaged meals or faddish diet meal plans. The best way for me was to lose weight by having lots of fresh fruits and doing a lot of walking on many days of the week. Having only two meals vice three does a lot of wonders. And no snack. No soda but lots of lemonade. I restrict my water intake. I know it is difficult in the middle of truly warm weather but the heart will thank you for less body fluid to pump out to the whole system everyday. No 3 liters of water a day, a few sips after each meal helps me a lot. Ten minutes of walking is not much but it is great for your body. Today I am slimmer and more flexible. It does not hurt me anymore when I bend and when the blood gets squeezed into my head. I try to get as much sleep as I can. Twenty minutes of shut eye is great for me. I can climb small hills now and ride my Huffy old-fashioned bike for hours (3). I may soon get back to swimming again in the slowest stroke possible, the butterfly. Or shall I say back stroke which is still my favorite since my old Navy days. I get to perspire when I exercise and that will rid my body of the drug metabolites. I try to have more hours of night sleep to get as much of that Rem sleep stage which rejuvenates your system. Move more and eat less as Atty Senen Cabrera would say. Atty practices what he preaches. he is still as slim as he was 40 years ago. Live long and Prosper! As Spock would say.
