I admit to being an unabashed fan of Richard Branson. Additionally, I have only moderately followed the whole space tourism movement and recent events are obviously tragic in nature. But to suddenly lurch from these terrible events into an entire diatribe about people being too rich and judgement of successful entrepreneurs being uncaring - as outlined by Zoe Williams in The Guardian - is at best, poorly researched, and at worst, completely asinine. Not mentioned was the fact that Branson has put billions (with a B) into the investment of fuel alternatives, stem cell research, and opened up a chain of health care clinics that offered conventional medical care alongside homoeopathic and complementary therapies in the UK - out of his own pockets. This on top of his ongoing investment in Virgin Enterprises - and its 2M employees and payroll - who dislike Branson so much they rated him a Top 10 employer - globally.
