I am going to do my best to be positive on this post but I just wanted to share. Most of you have seen my numerous post about the dogs that needed a home. The mother dog was dropped off at our farm in the middle of the winter pregnant and gave birth in our barn to puppies. With the cold winter there was not much we could do (morally anyway) but let them be. Fast forward we have been trying to find homes for these sweet little things and have found out many things that I was totally clueless about. First, as I became a member or NUMEROUS animal groups and I posted these guys, I was surprised to find that there is a whole world out there of people who are not so nice and contacted me for the animals and after checking things a little more closely, their intentions were not good for these animals. I had no clue that people can be so cruel. For those of you are not aware - people often want animals to fight, use as bait, and many other horrible things. After seeking and spending hours and hours through online options trying to find a place for these dogs where they would be treated decently and found a good home, we finally found a refuge option. But, it was not with one of the non profits that I have given and supported, not within our community. Yes, I spent the day driving seven hours one way to find a safe place for these sweet things. I made NUMEROUS calls and to local options with no returned phone calls, no consideration to local places (I will not name them publically) I have really been upset about the response that I have had from local options. I know resources are low and demand is high but the operations that I experienced are not were any of my dollars will ever go. Second, please spay or neuter your animals, please dont populate animals that you do not want or cannot take care of, please do not discard puppies, kittens, or any other animals out like trash as Karma will come full circle and you cannot treat live animals with such disrespect or bad things will happen. Its just not right people! Third, please before you go to the pet store or buy that puppy, kitten, or other animal for some crazy price because it has some papers, please check out local shelters, refuges, or other options for animals that need saved. Fourth, if you have an animal that you are finding a new home for please check out the person that is getting the pet and make sure they are able to care for it and are an appropriate, safe place for the animal; you might be surprised at people. Finally, if you are planning on donating to an agency or individual who provides resources for animals, please make sure that they follow their own charters, and respond to more than accepting the donations with what they are set up and established to do. Be cautious. Myself, from now on I know who I will NOT support and I know who I will. These little guys are safe in Flint, Michigan. Yes, I drove seven hours one way to a place just to take these animals so that they will be safe and have a good life. Some think I went to extremes and could have found local options but I assure you I have learned my homework and spent the extra money and time just so I could lay down at night and know I did the right thing. Rant Over.
