I am not answering one more comment about expectations of free education from anyone. I have said what I have to say and I will not stand down from that. But just in case it wasnt seen here is my last comment on the matter cut and pasted. I am not, nor have I ever agreed with Pynes bullshit increase in fees. I have simply said there is nothing wrong with the way it is. Students werent even protesting for FREE education until a few started stating about Goughs reforms. They have always been protesting for no increase in fees, then whammo heres something else we can whinge about. This isnt a huge education issue for many of them - its something to whinge about and be little wannabe activists. I was brought up to work for what I wanted and pay my way in life and with my spinal injury I could bludge off the friggin govt for the rest of my life and never do an hour of volunteer work but I choose not to. As my dad said to me before he died a couple of years ago, never give someone a hand out, if you want them to really appreciate what they will achieve, give them a hand up, but never, ever a hand out. My dad and mum worked their arses off their entire lives - my dad went into massive cardiac arrest at work and spent 110 days in a coma, my mum is now on dialysis three days a week after being on the public waiting list for a year which nearly killed her and never til the day my father died or my mother now, will they take a hand out or expect to be moved ahead in life through a free hand out. I may have negative aspects about me like everyone does, but I will always hold my head up knowing I will never get to where I want to be by expecting or assuming I am deserving of a free hand out to get me there. My dad would roll over in his grave if he even considered I would jump on this bandwagon of freebie hunters. Oh and my dad thought Gough was a great man too.
