I am so sad that our dear friend Susan M. Gonsalves Marsland has passed away. She was a teacher, a musician, a community leader, and a champion for social justice, public health, feminism, and the environment. She organized Christmas caroling at local homeless shelters, ran a truly grassroots campaign for city council, and always stood up for what she believed in. She dedicated her life to making our community a better place. Susan sang Ave Maria at our wedding and guided me when times were tough. When I asked her and David for something borrowed for our wedding, she lent me her engagement band, 5 year anniversary band, 10 year anniversary band, and 25 year anniversary band. Susan was always more than happy to go above and beyond to help. So many will miss her. Her memory and her goodness will live on through all of the people that she touched. My thoughts and prayers with David, her sons, family, and friends.
