I am wondering that if our rubberneck gene can be suspended for a moment, then the media will not report on the movements of police. Then this siege business can be sorted out by professionals. . I also find it odd that so many people can be held by a single man. I mean, hes been in there, what, most of the day? Seriously, if I was going to have a hostage situation, then somewhere there was good-quality coffee, chocolate, and little cakes would definitely be my first choice. Some nice couches to relax on while my hostages cowered in terror would also be up on my list. So I cant fault his choice of venue. However, After my third Extra-Large half-mallowchino-half-latte (on the house), I think my bladder would begin to have a pressing need. So now what? I have a whole coffee shop full of hostages, and I need to use the can. I COULD just shoot them all, but theyre HOSTAGES. You dont do that. There are rules about this sort of thing, and all the other hostage-takers would consider it bad form. So instead Ill just politely ask them to wait in the shop while I go pee, and then if theyre not there when I come back, Ill shoot them. Yeah. Thatll work. . The fact is that there are thirty-odd people in there, including staff, all with access to table knives, spoons, kitchen knives, hot steam, hot milk, hot water, glasses, glass water bottles, etc etc, and these things are spread throughout the shop.... and he is ONE GUY.... well it makes you think how sort of useless everyone at this point is. Even if hes going to the dunny in front of you so he can keep you in his cone of... uh... fire, then hes at least going to be a BIT distracted, at which point you can brain him/throw things at him/stab the bastard. Nope. Instead, the people inside seem to be content to let him eat ALL the lindt balls, even the special christmas ones, and just hope that he eventually dies of diabetes instead.
